Pell City Outback opens doors, donates to Alabama Childhood Food Solutions

The countdown is officially over, and Outback restaurateurs thanked their fans Thursday during a full-fledged welcome to their establishment.

The balloons were hung and the tables set inside for taste testing.

But prior to the other festivities, Outback Associate Brand Marketing Manager Ashley Bailes announced the restaurant’s gift to the communities it will serve.

Standing with a giant sized check poised on an easel beside her, Bailes explained.

“Giving back to its community is part of what we do…” she said.

The check beside her was for $8,385, which was presented to Gene Rogers, executive director for the food ministries of the Alabama Childhood Food Solutions.

With its warehouse in Sylacauga, the volunteer organization supports children and families needing food and also provides its own backpack program for youngsters to take food home.

Rogers said the organization not only serves families in Talladega County, but in surrounding areas as well.

Their website provides information for families seeking assistance, and there’s a hotline listing for emergent needs.

“Because of this, there will be dozens, and more, children who will not go hungry tonight,” Rogers said during the presentation.

The presentation led into Outback’s continued extension of hospitality for the event, with offerings of some of its menu favorites for its guests.

The restaurant officially opened its doors for dinner patrons Tuesday night.

“We heard our people in Pell City asking why we couldn’t have a new steakhouse for years,” said Mayor Bill Pruitt at the event. “Now, we’re very pleased to have Outback as part of our Pell City family.”

The Outback menu brings all kinds of things “Outback,” like its “Bloomin’ Onion” and even “Bloomin’ Fried Chicken,” a variety of pasta dishes and burgers, along with their ribs and seafood favorites.

The steaks bring their own line of followers, with filets and sirloins, ribeyes and an Outback Classic Prime Rib.

Side options are plentiful, with

sweet and baked potato options, steamed veggies and its own take on “mac and cheese,” as well as Aussie fries and more.

For dessert fans, classic New York Cheesecake and a three layer carrot cake are on the board, with a “Chocolate Thunder from Down Under” and Salted Caramel Cookie Skillet to tempt all ages.

Hours for the Pell City Outback are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.; Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. and Sundays, from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.

It is located adjacent to Pell City Plaza at 2775 Dr. John Haynes Drive.
